As political forces threaten hard-won rights for women and girls, this photographic series turns toward a quieter, deeply personal act: my daughters shaping the world they are growing up in through a secular, home-based education.

Centered on my two daughters and the small circle of friends growing alongside them, the work follows a way of learning rooted in relationships, curiosity, and autonomy. Their education unfolds through movement, conversation, observation, and time spent in the natural world. Outdoors, they are free to follow what catches their attention, ask questions, and find their own ways of knowing.

These images hold girlhood as it is lived, not prescribed. In everyday moments of exploration and friendship, the girls test ideas, form bonds, and discover the weight of their own voices. The series considers education as a quiet form of resistance: a space in which they can develop their own understanding of the world.

In documenting their lives, I hope to show how the freedom to explore the natural world can help them imagine their futures and grow into a nature of their own.
