ABOUT
Kate Neal began her photography career apprenticing with an award-winning studio in New York City, refining her craft while photographing more than 50 weddings at some of the city’s most iconic venues. Those formative years taught her how to move intuitively and trust her own visual voice.
In 2011, Kate Neal Photography was born. Today, that same instinct-led approach guides the way she documents the full spectrum of life, from the quiet anticipation of birth to the joy of weddings, anniversaries, and the tender beauty of life celebrations. She is drawn to the full arc of a life well lived, creating photographs that preserve, honor, and bear witness to what is fleeting. Her work offers tangible proof that beauty exists in everyday moments, even when it might otherwise go unnoticed.
Kate is grateful to call the Philadelphia suburbs home, where she lives with her husband, their two daughters, Rowan and Sloane, along with two dogs, a cat, fifteen chickens, and their buzzing bees.
EXPERIENCE
Kate takes on a limited number of wedding and family commissions each year so that her schedule leaves room for a slower, more intentional way of working. This allows her to truly know each couple and family, to approach every session with fresh eyes, and to create images that feel calm, present, and deeply attentive.
Her husband, John, has photographed weddings alongside her from the very beginning, while all family work is photographed solely by Kate. Many of the families she documents are couples whose stories she has followed from engagement to marriage and into the years that unfold beyond it. Walking alongside families through those seasons makes the work especially meaningful and deeply rooted in trust.
Protecting that space also protects the life that nourishes her creative practice. Much of Kate’s inspiration is born from the quiet rhythm of her days - long afternoons outdoors with her daughters, reading together, traveling to places that stretch perspective, and building a home shaped by curiosity and wonder.
It is this fullness of life beyond photography that allows Kate to bring depth and presence to the work itself. When she arrives to photograph a couple or family, she comes grounded, attentive, and deeply invested in telling their story with care, honesty, and reverence.
