ABOUT
I began my photography career apprenticing with an award winning studio in New York City, refining my craft while photographing more than 50 weddings at iconic venues. Those formative years taught me how to move intuitively & trust my own visual voice.
In 2011, Kate Neal Photography was born. Today, that same instinct led approach guides the way I photograph all of life, from the quiet anticipation of birth to the joy of weddings, anniversaries, & the tender beauty of life celebrations. I am drawn to the full arc of a life well lived. I photograph to preserve, to remain present, to honor what is fleeting, & to offer tangible proof that beauty exists in everyday moments, even when it goes unnoticed.
Today, I am grateful to call the Philadelphia suburbs home, where I live with my husband, our two daughters, Rowan & Sloane, along with two dogs, a cat, ten chickens, & our buzzing bees.
EXPERIENCE
I take on a limited number of wedding & family commissions each year so that my schedule leaves room for a slower, more intentional way of working. This allows me to truly get to know each couple & family, to approach every session with fresh eyes, & to create images that feel calm, present, & deeply attentive.
My husband, John, has photographed weddings alongside me from the very beginning, while all family work is photographed by me. Many of the families I document are couples whose stories we have followed from their engagement through their wedding day & into the years that follow. Walking with families through those seasons makes the work especially meaningful & deeply rooted in trust.
Protecting that space also protects my own life. Much of my inspiration is born in the quiet rhythm of our days, spending long afternoons outdoors with my daughters, reading together, traveling to places that stretch our perspective, & building a home filled with curiosity & wonder. Raising our children teaches me, again & again, how fleeting & sacred ordinary moments truly are.
That fullness of life outside of photography is what allows me to bring depth & presence to the work itself. When I show up for a couple or family, I arrive grounded, attentive, & genuinely invested in telling their story with care.
PHILOSOPHY
Let’s wander off the usual path.
This work is made for the people within it.
It values privacy, presence, & lived experience.
Less noise. More meaning.
Fewer images for others. More memories for yourself.
This work lives here.
